Core Keeper

Core Keeper Habitable Room: A Reliable Merchant Setup

The quick answer

Build an enclosed room with a door and 4–64 interior floor tiles. Give each merchant a separate crafted Bed, leave at least one fully empty tile, and place the correct summoning item on the floor. The Spirit Merchant uses the Ancient Hologram Pod instead.

This setup includes a door and avoids the unresolved minimum doorless-room case. Interior floor area is used, not the outside wall footprint.

Build a simple room

Use 4–64 interior floor tiles enclosed by walls, with a door for access. Add a crafted Bed for the merchant and leave at least one tile completely empty: no torch or decorative floor object on that tile.

Each merchant needs a separate bed. Start with a plain room so decoration does not obscure a missing condition.

This guide includes a door deliberately. Sources differ about whether a door is strictly required, so this is a reliable setup rather than a claim about the smallest possible doorless room.

Place the summoning item

The item must be placed on the ground, not merely carried in your inventory.

Merchant Summoning item Recorded source
Bearded Merchant Slime Oil Glurch
Cloaked Merchant Mysterious Idol Ghorm
Fishing Merchant Pile of Chum Azeos

The Spirit Merchant appears through the Ancient Hologram Pod; do not apply the ordinary room setup to it.

Move or troubleshoot a merchant

Pick up the old bed when relocating. After arranging the new room, confirm that the merchant actually arrives.

If it does not, check the interior area, enclosure, separate bed, clear tile and correct placed item. Leave the old location or reload after checking the setup. A fixed instruction to move a certain number of tiles and wait one minute is not a guaranteed refresh rule.
