Start with one powered drill
Find and mark an Ore Boulder. Make a drill at the Automation Table:
| Drill | Recorded materials |
|---|---|
| Crude Drill | 8 Tin Bars |
| Drill | 10 Iron Bars + 10 Scarlet Bars |
The Crude Drill is available before the Scarlet stage. Do not make the higher-tier recipe a prerequisite for every boulder-mining setup. Electronic equipment is accessed through the Electronics Table.
Point the drill head at the boulder and connect a generator or switched supply through wire. Leave an output route behind the machine. Check for power indication and actual ore before expanding.
Collect the output
Use Conveyor Belts behind the drills to merge the output. A Robot Arm takes an item from the tile in front of it and places it on the opposite tile. Put the belt end on the pickup side and the chest or suitable furnace on the deposit side.
On PC, R is the default placement rotation key; use your Controls if rebound. Feed one ore into the collection line and confirm that it reaches storage or the furnace before connecting continuous output. This is a check for you to perform, not a claim that this layout has been play-tested here.
Scarlet Ore requires a Smelter Kiln. Match the smelting station to the ore instead of routing every ore into an early Furnace.
Expand cautiously
A boulder can have 1–8 surrounding drills with diminishing returns. Ore generation is associated with the boulder; do not expect every drill to eject a separate item at the same time.
Boulders can run out. The guide does not promise unlimited output or a fixed hourly rate.
Troubleshoot in order
Check power, drill orientation, whether the target is really a boulder, and whether it is exhausted. If ore lands on the ground, check the arm’s deposit tile, container and available capacity.
Version matters for faults: 1.3.0.2 addressed initial-tick behaviour, and 1.3.0.4 fixed drills and other hazards failing to deal damage. Check the installed build when the machine appears correctly arranged but still does nothing.
