Make the summoning skull
Find the throne room in the Forgotten Ruins, or use a Malugaz Scanner. Cavelings in the ruins can randomly drop Crystal Skull Shards.
- Collect three Crystal Skull Shards.
- Put the shards on your hotbar and use them to make a Skull of the Corrupted Shaman.
- Place the completed skull on the rune in the centre of the throne room.
A pile of loose shards is not the completed summoning item.
Prepare the arena
Clear breakable clutter, repair your gear and bring healing and useful food. Preserve room to move around the boss. This route relies on dodging fire, not on a watering-can interaction.
Fight the first form
Malugaz teleports, launches fireballs and marks ground-fire areas with red circles. Leave the marked area, avoid the projectile, then use a short gap after an attack to deal damage before moving again.
Do not stand in fire to maintain uninterrupted damage. A fixed two-second opening is not guaranteed for every difficulty or multiplayer situation.
Fight the second form
Emptying the first health bar is not victory: Malugaz changes form and regains health. Watch the direction of its pursuit and charge, dodge sideways out of the landing path, and counter after the attack ends.
A Dash Feather can assist movement, but it is not a summoning requirement. Save some healing for this form. Running too far from the throne room can trigger recovery or a reset; leaving the arena is not a dependable damage-free strategy.
Collect the Heart
Defeat both forms and collect the Stolen Crystal Heart. Return it to Malugaz’s Core statue to advance the early progression chain.
If the encounter fails, check whether you made the full skull, used the correct rune, stopped after only the first form, or moved far enough away to reset the fight. Improve equipment and supplies before trying again.
