Prepare the Azeos route
Activate the Core and open the Great Wall, then enter Azeos’ Wilderness. Use the matching scanner to locate the arena, identifiable in the source description by feathers and a bird shadow.
Make a Large Shiny Glimmering Object at the nature shrine and place it in the arena to summon Azeos. The same type of item is used for further fights.
Understand the drop
Ancient Pickaxe is a random Azeos drop. Not receiving it does not by itself mean the summon was wrong. A loot table’s guaranteed draw from a group does not mean this particular item is guaranteed.
This guide does not add percentages from separate drop groups or promise that a particular number of kills will produce the pickaxe.
Treat the desert alternative as a lead
The White Whistle scene in the Desert of Beginnings is another recorded loot route. Its name and region are known, but this guide does not provide a verified entrance image, exact coordinate or container-identification walkthrough. Use the Azeos route if you need the better-established sequence.
Keep it for Soul Seeker
Ancient Pickaxe is both a mining tool and a Soul Seeker ingredient. Keep it if Soul Seeker is your goal; the legendary pickaxe is not a compulsory requirement for ordinary story progression.
Official 1.3 notes reduced Soul Seeker’s crafting cost. Do not use an older large material list as the current recipe; this page establishes the ingredient relationship without reproducing that outdated recipe.
